What if this summer wasn't about doing more...but about noticing more?

Summer has a way of filling our calendars with exciting plans; road trips, camping weekends, family gatherings, beach days, hiking trails, backyard barbecues, and evening walks under the setting sun.

As dog owners, we naturally want to include our four-legged companions in those adventures. But sometimes, in the excitement of reaching the destination, we forget to enjoy the journey.

That's exactly why I created this month's Play • Learn • Connect Challenge!

Welcome to the “Summer Adventures Start With SAFE Bingo!”

This isn't your typical Bingo game.

There are no prizes for finishing first, but everyone who completes the full card will receive a badge they can use on social media!

This challenge is designed to help you slow down, spend intentional time with your dog, and notice the little moments that make your adventures meaningful.

Your challenge is simple:

🌞Notice the little moments that make summer adventures special.

Because those moments are often the ones that become our favorite memories.

PLAY 

Every adventure becomes more enjoyable when we make time to play.

Throughout the Bingo card you'll find simple activities like:

• Play Find It somewhere new.

• Scatter feed in the grass.

• Practice a Hand Target.

• Play your dog's favorite game.

These aren't just fun activities, they're opportunities to help your dog feel confident, engaged, and successful in new environments.

Sometimes a two-minute game is all it takes to turn an overwhelming situation into a positive experience.

LEARN 

One of my favorite parts of this challenge is becoming a Behavior Detective.

Several Bingo squares invite you to notice SAFE Moments, such as:

• My dog checked in with me.

• My dog chose to sniff instead of rushing.

• My dog explored something new.

• My dog recovered after being surprised.

• My dog took a break when they needed one.

These aren't just behaviors, they're clues. Every clue tells you something about how your dog is experiencing the world.

The more we notice, the better we understand. And the better we understand, the more confidently we can support our dogs.

CONNECT 

Some of the best memories happen when we simply enjoy being together.

That's why many of the Bingo squares encourage connection instead of accomplishment.

🐾Take an adventure selfie.

🐾Watch a sunset together.

🐾Relax in the shade.

🐾Have a picnic.

🐾Visit a new park.

🐾Capture a water break.

🌞Share your favorite adventure photo.

None of these require perfect obedience.

They simply celebrate the relationship you and your dog are building together.

Every Dog's Adventure Looks Different

For some dogs, adventure means climbing a mountain. For others, it means walking around a new neighborhood.

Maybe your dog will visit a lake for the first time.

Maybe they'll enjoy a quiet sniffari at your local park.

Maybe they'll stay home and enjoy a frozen treat in the backyard.

Every adventure counts!

Success isn't measured by how far you travel. It's measured by how your dog feels while sharing the experience with you.
