April Workshops

In the theme of April Fools & Follies our April Workshops will Foolishly be FREE!

When it comes to dog training, sometimes you just have to take a step back and laugh at your mistakes. We all make them! Even me with all my years of experience and training. Such as tripping over my dogs leash and face planting in the middle of one of my classes! Often people see me at my best, or at least that's the goal. Anyone who sticks around also sees me at my worst as I do have a disabled body that doesn't always go where I tell it to go and hitting the ground is a frequent occurrence for me. So yes, if I ever fall in front of you, I appreciate your concern and feel free to laugh WITH me instead of at me.

It's not that we want to celebrate our mistakes and the things we have done wrong, but we typically learn from those mistakes. If we can share that learning with others so they don't have to repeat the mistakes, it helps everyone. And at Yooper Paws of Love we are all about helping dog owners have the best canine partner they can.

Join us this April in taking a look at some of the many training mistakes we have made over the years and some of the bigger lessons we've learned the hard way. Be sure to check out the April posts from 2022 to see some more embarrassing dog training moments.

Weekend Workshops
We will be hosting two Weekend Workshops in April at the Yooper Paws Training Center.

The Longline Workshop
This is going to be 2 hours of fun! You can sign up for a 15 minute longline management session, then you will be pointed in a direction towards your private practice space. There you can practice your skills and receive additional support from a Canine Coach if a challenge presents itself.

Sessions will take place April 15th from 1-3pm. All borrowed gear should be returned by 4pm when the supervised Longline Walks will end.

Sign up for your 15 minute management session here!

Your dog will need to be wearing a well fitting harness for this workshop. If they are prone to pulling, a dual clip attachment will help. If you need to borrow a harness or longline, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to match you with equipment that will work for you. Using a collar or head halter solo without a harness can lead to increased injury and should not be used with a longline.

(Absolutely no aversive collars are allowed at any Yooper Paws activities!)

We will be outside for this workshop so if the weather is too bad, we will reschedule for the following weekend.
Toys & Treasures Workshop
Join us at the Yooper Paws Training Center on April 29th for a free Paws & Play Session where you can play with all our cool equipment! We will be setting up several stations for you to rotate through:

Parkour Obstacle Course
Cavelitti Poles Fitness Course
Tricks & Play Zone
Challenge & Puzzle Toys
DIY Snuffle Mat Supplies
And anything else we gather before then.

This gives you one day to explore the Training Center and see all that we have to offer. There is no need to pre-register, but if you'd like to shoot us an email and let us know you're coming we will have something special for you when you get there.

The Toys & Treasures Workshop takes place on April 29th from 4-6pm. This is a come and explore at your own pace workshop so you can drop in when it fits your schedule and stay as long as you want.

If your dog doesn't do well with other dogs, please contact us to schedule your private session to explore the Yooper Paws Toys & Treasures.
